fun at the store

This picture always makes me so happy.  It was taken a couple years before the following story.

Well, yesterday, I was feeling all joyful, so I took my two younger kids to the local T.J.Maxx and filled up the cart with all kinds of things for a toy drive at a local women’s shelter.  When they both threw major tantrums (akin to the aforementioned fit in the humilimom post), I had no choice but to leave the cart at the store.  The workers had to put everything away, which I am sure was a pleasure after the two screaming kids had finally exited.  Now I will have to go shopping again.  This time, without the children.

That is a darling picture! I would love to help. I assume that the presents have to be new. I think that I live near you. I’m in Provo. Let me know some details!

  2. What a good idea, Jaime. I hope all is well.

    With love, your sister,
    Jess

P.S. I downloaded Twilight (the Score) and I’m listening to Bella’s Lullaby.

I will have some things for you by the 15th. And you don’t even have to give me any cookies!

    Yo, Yo, girlfriend. I’m in.
(And, P.S. You are lovely. Absolutely lovely to do this. I adore you.)

What’s the best way to get the gifts to you?
And…um…can I eat Charlie for lunch?

    That kid, I tell you.

Every year I take my kids out to shop for presents to donate to the Toys For Tots program sponsored by the Marines. There are so many worthwhile causes in every one’s area…but at this time of year, it’s all about the kids!

Oh, me too, me too! I wanna help, and not for the cookies, although I’m sure they’ll be super yummy. I’ll call you.

And yes, Charlie, those cheeks are so kissably inviting!

I wish I lived by you, but I don’t, so here is what we do. Our family adopted 2 children in our community this year. We went shopping as a family for FHE this week and got their gifts–clothes, toys, etc. It was great to have the kids focus on getting someone else something and not what they wanted. My 10 year old really impressed me by getting together 3 of her friends and they wanted to adopt a child on their own and use their own money, so Saturday I am taking 4 10-year-old girls shopping for another little girl. How sweet is that? I was proud of her. Tis the season for giving–it is the best!
