someone’s been sleeping in my bed
When I went up to bed last night, this is what I found. I ran and grabbed my camera, so thankful I had a tripod and a large aperture.
You know when you watch your children sleep, and you are just suddenly overwhelmed with joy? Seeing my youngest two together was so poignant last night, I almost cried. (My friend Brittany has a wonderful little post on this very subject that I printed off, I liked it so much. Click here to read it.)
There was a perfect spot in this photo to add text, but how could I?
Now I have a little poll for you. I usually prefer black and white photographs, but the light was so low in this, and the contrast so low, that I decided to go color, but now I’m not so sure.

Both look good, but I like the BW one better. Somehow more “quiet.”
I have pics of our two piled next to each other as well. They share a room and share a trundle bed, with the girl on the main bed and my son on the roll-away one. One night when we were checking up on them before we head off to bed, we saw that our girl somehow had climbed down off her bed and was sleeping next to her big brother. We must have stood there for a few minutes just smiling and taking in the sweetness of it all.
Normally, I prefer B&W, but I agree with you in this case. I like the color.
They are such beautiful children.
There’s something about the light and color in the top one that radiates warmth and harmony for me. So I vote for color.

the color is too daytime for me. I vote for the beautiful Black and White photo.
B&W Hands down. The weird Tungsten light gets in the way of the subject, IMO.
I like them both, but I agree with pp, the BW looks so peaceful.
Color! Definately! I usually love bw photos, but this kind of photo is great because there are only a couple main colors – red, blue, pinky-peach, and yellowish-white – so simple.
I have to choose the color photo. This picture just captures the innocence. The colors don’t take away from it. And yes I agree, pure joy!

The b&w just looks right and is appears* to be sharper, so its about the kids, not the color.
