Thank you to everyone for your huge response! The comments are

now closed. I will announce the winner in my next post.

Alright. This is amazing. Have you all been seeing the one ingredient ice cream recipe out there? I first saw it on The Kitchn. It’s vegan. It’s healthy, and a dieter’s dream.

A little later, I saw that Jen Yu from userealbutter made it. Her photos were so gorgeous, and the ice cream looked so creamy, that I had to try it for myself.

All you do is take ripe bananas, cut them up, freeze them, and then mix them up in the food processor. It’s unbelievably simple.

But only if you have a food processor.

If you have one, then go out and buy some bananas and get started.

If you don’t have one, then you might be in luck.

Whenever I write a recipe that uses a food processor, I always feel a little bad. I didn’t get mine until a few years ago, so I know what it’s like to pass over a recipe that needs one, or attempt a recipe in a blender and have it make a huge mess.

To remedy that, I will be giving away one Cuisinart 11-Cup Food Processor.* It’s the exact model I have, and I love it.

To enter the first time, all you have to do is name one of my recipes that uses a food processor, and tell me which one you would make if you win in the comments section.

To enter a second time, become a fan on facebook, and write another comment that you are now a fan. If you’re already a fan, then just place a comment that you already are.

To enter a third time, place a tweet on twitter about the giveaway, come back to the comments, and place another comment.

Also, for every friend you refer to enter the giveaway, have them mention your name in their comment—that they found the giveaway through you, and you can enter another comment for each of your friends who mention you . . .

The more the merrier, right? I figure, if you’re going to tell your friends, you might as well get something out of it.

Oh, and if you aren’t already following me on twitter, or subscribing to my RSS feed, you can do that, and then place another comment that lets me know.

To give you some ideas of food to make with a food processor, here are some ideas:

potato pancakes—my food processor revolutionized the way I make these.

macarons—Want the secret to making these little gems? It’s all in the food processor.

red velvet cake—I use a food processor to make the beet puree, which is the secret to an all natural red velvet cake.

vanilla bean cupcakes—These made-from-scratch cupcakes are ready in a flash when you use the food processor.

Then, of course, there are chopped nuts for baklava, cheesecake filling, and pie dough.

*This post and giveaway are not sponsored by Cuisinart, I’m just giving one away because I feel like it . . .

Now, on to the ice cream!

one ingredient ice cream

The bananas can taste a but green (Isn’t that a great description? Someone else came up with it . . .), so taste it when it’s done. If you think you need some more depth of flavor, you can add in other ingredients. See below.

3 very ripe bananas

1. Cut bananas into 1 inch chunks. Place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and freeze for 2-3 hours until firm.

2. Place frozen bananas in a food processor fitted with the steel blade, and with your hand firmly placed on the top of the machine, pulse for a couple of seconds at a time. Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl. You will have to pulse and scrape the down the bowl several times. Don’t give up. Eventually, it will look a little like granola. Continue to pulse for longer and longer intervals until the sound changes, and the bananas come together and look like soft serve ice cream. Scoop and serve quickly.

2 ingredient ice cream

follow the above directions; add in large scoop of nutella. Pulse until incorporated.

3 ingredient ice cream

follow the original directions, and add in a tablespoon of cocoa powder and a large scoop of peanut butter. Pulse until incorporated.

Although your key lime cream tart doesn’t call for using a food processor, I would make the crust in one. I only have a hand mixer and using the food processor would get it done quicker so they butter doesn’t cool down too much. :) So, I would make the key lime cream tart with the food processor!

    3. Julie says:

I would try this ice cream recipe. I’m not a huge just banana fan, so I’d likely try the 3 ingredient version. Love that it’s healthier!

I have to try your chocolate caramel tartlets!! They look so fun and tasty! And even though they don’t use a food processor, those mango lime crepes…Oh my! I do have a food processor, but it’s the attachment for the Cuisinsart 7qt. mixer and it’s tiny and loud. I have to use ear plugs when I use it. Lol Love your blog!
