Thanks for the answer! As for the sugar issue, I live in Germany and just weighed out 1 3/4 cup and it does indeed come out to 388 grams. This calculator seems to be the most accurate: http://www.traditionaloven.com/conversions_of_measures/sugar_amounts.html

Basically all Europeans think American baked goods are too sweet. I just always reduce the sugar by 1/4 and then they're happy.

Something else Europeans have to watch out for is flour. In Germany, their standard flour is our pastry flour, so making cookies is a disaster (they come out totally flat and greasy) unless I use a special kind with more protein.

Hamannde--These cookies came out somewhere in the middle. A little crunchy, and not too chewy. I remember wishing they were a little chewier at the time.

kiwii--You're right. That does seem like a lot of sugar. I made this recipe before I owned a kitchen scale, so I used an online converter to give you the metric measurements. I'm moving right now, and my scale is packed, so I can't double check it right now, but I think it's supposed to be 280g. Thanks for catching that!

hello there, I was wondering if 380g of sugar is the right amount, because i tried this recipe tonight and they turned out to be a little to sweet:(hope this doesn't upset you, I just wanted you to know you have fans in Romania(Europe), who are a little confused:D

That's a beautiful picture! And the cookies look delicious. I was wondering, are they crunchy or chewy? Thanks!

These sounded so yummy that I immediately made them. I changed the M&Ms with Smarties, though, because there was no M&m's bag to be found ^^. I blogged about it if you want to see my result! Fantastic blog, by the way!

Oh my goodness! I just made these and my family loves them. :) Your food photograhpy is beautiful. Are you a professional? My pics did not turn out how I hoped, but I am still learning. Any advice you could share? Thanks so much!

Love your recipes, they are yummy. Only suggestion I have is, since I´m in Europe, if you could put the measurements of the packages (how much is in a small package of M&M´s?) and the sticks of butter. Thank you, it would be alot easier for me!

My neighbor brought me the magic s'mores bars today. She read your blog. They were fabulous. Remember those cookies you make with the rollos inside. It's been years, I think that is what you put inside. I have the recipe upstairs but am too lazy to make sure I am correct. That would be a good one to share.
