Maybe it’s their bright colors, or maybe it’s because they remind me of my childhood—either way, I find that M&M cookies are difficult to resist.
I almost used those Sunspire all natural candies, but I forgot to pick them up at the health food store today.
m&m cookies
2 1/2 cups (375g) unbleached all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 sticks (16 tablespoons or 220g) unsalted, room temperature butter
1 3/4 cups (280g) sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon pure vanilla
1 small package (2 ounces or 55g) M&M candies
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees (190 degrees Celsius).
2. Whisk the flour, salt, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Set aside.
3. With an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter on high until smooth and light, about 2 minutes. Next add the sugar and continue beating until light in color and fluffy. With the speed on low, add eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla. Beat until smooth.
4. Turn off the mixer and scrape down sides of bowl. Turn the mixer to low and slowly add the dry ingredients. Mix until just incorporated.
6. Scoop out dough by 2 tablespoonfuls and place about 2 inches apart on a baking sheet. Press 5-8 M&M’s on each ball of dough. Flatten each ball of dough slightly with the bottom of a glass. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until barely golden brown on the edges.
7. Remove from oven and let rest on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Serve warm with milk.
My neighbor brought me the magic s’mores bars today. She read your blog. They were fabulous. Remember those cookies you make with the rollos inside. It’s been years, I think that is what you put inside. I have the recipe upstairs but am too lazy to make sure I am correct. That would be a good one to share.
I can already see that your blog will be a dangerous, dangerous thing for my waistline. YUM. ♥

Love your recipes, they are yummy. Only suggestion I have is, since I´m in Europe, if you could put the measurements of the packages (how much is in a small package of M&M´s?) and the sticks of butter. Thank you, it would be alot easier for me!
Oh my goodness! I just made these and my family loves them.
Your food photograhpy is beautiful. Are you a professional? My pics did not turn out how I hoped, but I am still learning. Any advice you could share? Thanks so much!
Jamie
These sounded so yummy that I immediately made them. I changed the M&Ms with Smarties, though, because there was no M&m’s bag to be found ^^. I blogged about it if you want to see my result! Fantastic blog, by the way!

That’s a beautiful picture! And the cookies look delicious. I was wondering, are they crunchy or chewy? Thanks!
hello there, I was wondering if 380g of sugar is the right amount, because i tried this recipe tonight and they turned out to be a little to sweet:(hope this doesn’t upset you, I just wanted you to know you have fans in Romania(Europe), who are a little confused:D
kiwii–You’re right. That does seem like a lot of sugar. I made this recipe before I owned a kitchen scale, so I used an online converter to give you the metric measurements. I’m moving right now, and my scale is packed, so I can’t double check it right now, but I think it’s supposed to be 280g. Thanks for catching that!
Hamannde–These cookies came out somewhere in the middle. A little crunchy, and not too chewy. I remember wishing they were a little chewier at the time.
Thanks for the answer! As for the sugar issue, I live in Germany and just weighed out 1 3/4 cup and it does indeed come out to 388 grams. This calculator seems to be the most accurate: http://www.traditionaloven.com/conversions_of_measures/sugar_amounts.html
Basically all Europeans think American baked goods are too sweet. I just always reduce the sugar by 1/4 and then they’re happy.
Something else Europeans have to watch out for is flour. In Germany, their standard flour is our pastry flour, so making cookies is a disaster (they come out totally flat and greasy) unless I use a special kind with more protein.
[...] one with which I’m now really happy. It’s basically a version of the recipe found at sophistimom, and it goes like this . . 375gr all-purpose Flour (I actually ended up using about 400gr, but [...]
hello um quick question how many does it make ?
Saleena—this makes about 2 dozen. Thank you for asking!
