Stripes—They were delicious. I haven’t tried the starter with any other cookies, yet. I had lost my starter in a move last year. But I just obtained another one, and may start experimenting again soon. Any requests?

Re—Yes, I would switch out the cherries with raisins, and I would also use only white sugar instead of brown. If I can remember, their oatmeal raisin cookies were a lot lighter in color than my cookies. Also, I would try plumping the raisins, which is when you soak them in water or juice for about an hour, and then drain them. You can also cover them in juice or water and then microwave them for 1 minute, and then drain them. That is the quick method I always use.

If I want to make these in the oatmeal raisin version should I just switch out the cherries? Thanks! I guess it’s the levain that gives them their shape? I can never get my cookies this thick!

Bree! I love that you asked about that milk jar, especially since you can actually get to the store easily. I bought it at Brambles Boutique, and last I checked, they still had a few.
