lavender lemonade

Lavender lemonade seems to be all the rage lately. I’m finding it at my favorite pastry shop, all over the web, and even down at the local cafe run by favorite local hippies. And why shouldn’t it be the rage? A summertime drink kissed with floral scent? Heaven.

I made this particular batch of lavender lemonade when I was coming up with labels for Avery. I confess, though, that what’s in the picture was rather light on the lavender, since I made it at two in the morning and had run out of lavender buds. So when you make yours, you may discover it looks more, well . . . lavender.

lavender lemonade

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons lavender buds
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
cold water and ice

1. In a small saucepan, bring water, sugar, and lavender to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes. Allow to cool. Strain the lavender liquid into a pitcher.

2. Add in lemon juice with ice, and about 4 cups of water. Taste for strength.

Sounds tasty! Would that local cafe happen to be by Wal-Mart? They make a mean Italian Soda!

    4. Love how you packaged the drinks and the graphic design on the tags looks so professional. And wow, your photo is impeccable as with the others!

Did you make those tags with an Avery labels program???

Jamie the bottles are so cute! Where did you purchase those?

    11. [...] The labels that stuck out at me first were these tags (label number 22802). How perfectly they went with my bottles filled with homemade lavender lemonade! [...]

Where did you get the cute straws? These bottles are well-packaged. Lavender is my favorite.

    13. Laur–I bought them at an etsy shop. Just do a search for “striped paper straws.”

Thank you so much! I’ll look them up!

Hi, incredible recipe. Just a doubt can it be any type of lavender???

    17. I would use lavender from a health food store to ensure it was intended for eating, just to be on the safe side.

    18. Patti says:

Thank you for the answer, I just discover your blog and love it.

    19. alexa says:

How could I make those labels? thanks

    20. Alexa–Avery makes the tag labels. You can just put them through the printer. The number is 22802.

    21. Jenna says:

I have made you lemonade and love it! What are those beautiful pink things nestled in a cupcake wrapper?

    22. Thanks, Jenna. Those were actually a store bought raspberry shortbread cookie I found in the specialty foods aisle at TJ Maxx.

    23. Kristin says:

Do you have a source for the bottles? I’m having trouble finding them at a reasonable price.

    24. Kristin–Great question. I got mine here at Sur la Table. http://www.surlatable.com/product/PRO-689976/Bormioli-Swing-Bottles

Mine are the 8.5 ounce size. They’re 4 dollars each. That may be a little high, though, if you’re buying for a crowd. We only have 4 and it’s a tax write off for me, so I was able to justify the expense. We’ve had them for ages, though, and as long as we take off the little red rubber washer, we can clean them in the dishwasher, so I don’t regret buying them.
