Tartines are open faced sandwiches that are popular in Paris. What a fantastic way to add to our collection of recipes for our apple week! My son and his friend gobbled these up this afternoon. So if your kids are open minded, and willing to eat apples with cheese, these tartines may just be a big hit at your house.

Granny Smith Tartines With Black Forest Ham And Brie

  • 4 thin slices of good French bread
  • 2 small Granny Smith apples, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 pound Black Forest Ham—the best you can find—thinly sliced
  • 4-6 ounces Brie, thinly sliced

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees (200 celsius). Lay the bread on a cookie sheet and toast in the oven until just starting to brown on the edges, about 5-8 minutes. Remove from the oven and top with apple slices, ham, and brie.

2. Bake in the oven until cheese is melted, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven and place on a cutting board. Cut each toast into 4 pieces.
