I know it’s a little soon to start a new contest, but thanks to my friend Becky, a lot of you are new to the site. It hardly seems fair that you would all have to wait around for a long time before the next contest starts, don’t you think?
So, here’s the lowdown. I want everyone to have fun cooking this week (I’m sure I’ll do a manners themed contest some time and another one with books in the future, but this week it will be cooking.). If you try one of my recipes, put a comment on this post, and tell me how it went. If you loved it, tell me! If something goes wrong with it or you hate it, let me know! I want to hear. I’ll pick randomly from all of your comments. And don’t worry, if you already tried something and told me about it, like Julie and Sonja and many others, then you’re already entered!
As for the prize, hmm . . . I think I’ll scout around Williams Sonoma and make up a little bundle of a few of my favorite kitchen tools. I’ll definitely toss in a Microplane, the one tool I could no longer do without. Once I’ve put them all together, I’ll post a picture so you’ll know what you’re aiming for.
So, there you have it. I can’t wait to hear from you. Good luck, and happy cooking!
That’s me! I’m a referree, no not as in white & black strips but found you by Becky’s referral. I love it, I am currently looking at archives and signed off for dinner(husband cooked, yeah me! I got to read Blueberries for Sal), clean up dinner & check back in….I will for sure look more closely to see what recipe to try. I cook a lot, bake even more! By first glance it will be Banana Bread. I am in the mood for Fall & cozy, cinnamon smells. But you never know! Thanks for the contest. HAPPY FALL!
Well . . . imagine my disappointment when I saw your AMAZING lime bars (lemon bars being one of my most favorite indulgences) after I got home from my WW meeting (where, btw, I had only lost .2 lbs *sad*). So, how about if I list the Lime Bars as my “What I would make if I weren’t on a diet” choice! Bake sale week wasn’t a good time to find your blog!! *wink* Thanks!
This being the first time bing on your blog, it sure looks fun. THe pictures of the food are incredible. I look forward to trying out some of your recipes. I had set aside a banana bread recipe that I was going to make tomorrow, but now I think that I’ll set that recipe aside and try out yours. Thanks for the invite!
So, as soon as I saw your link on Becky’s blog I came right over. It was about dinner time. I saw your Magic Smores Bars and knew I had all of the ingredients to make them. And I did! They were so delicious and easy to whip up for a quick dessert. My boys and husband were asking for more. The boys practically licked their plates. Thanks! I am excited to be introduced to your blog.
I found you from Becky’s blog too! I made the banana bread last night and it was delicious! Even my husband loved it!
absolutely loved the lime bars! I am a huge fan of lemon bars and have never once thought of changing them into lime as I prefer lime even more than lemon. I wasn’t sure how I would feel when I bit in to the yellow and woudl expect lemon but I also knew I wouldn’t eat it if I turned it green… but alas… after testing 6 or 7 to make sure the color didn’t bother me, I decided it is nice to be yellow because it gives you a nice little surprise when you figure out it is lime. YUMMY!! Thanks for the recipe – it has already been added to one of my binders for future use!
So I’m totally a fan of posting recipes for others to enjoy. I have a lengthy list on my blog as well. You photograph your food so well! I was planning on making lime bars this week already, so I’m delighted to try that recipe. I’m also going to make your citrus pancakes. Sounds heavenly.
I really need to bake some zucchini bread, my “pumpkin” plant is producing lots of zucchinis. Any good recipes?
My 3 year old and I made your M&M cookies today for FHE treats tonight. My little one loved putting the M&M’s on the cookies and smashing them with his had–who needs a glass?
I have some bananas ready for banana bread, so that will be breakfast tomorrow, but we loved the M&M cookies, they are very super yummy! I only cooked my for about 10 minutes, though, but after eating 4 (hopefully there will be some left for FHE) they definitely have my vote for deliscious! Thanks! Looking forward to more cool stuff!
Hi! I found you through Becky’s blog. I LOVED the banana bread. So yummy. Can’t wait to try more of your recipes! Thanks for creating such a great website!!
Stacey
I am new to your site and just made the lime bars recipe. It was great and I plan to make it again so I can give some bars to my co-workers. My family wanted to keep the first batch all to themselves!
I found you through Becky’s blog also. We tried your s’mores bars. mmmmmmm
Ummm- could not resist the lime bars (even went to the store on a Friday night- which I try to avoid since it is usually a mob scene). all I can say is lemon bars, schmemon bars- my family (if there are any left over to share) are lime bar believers. Thanks for the yummy recipes!
I found you from Becky also. Tonight I made the smores bars for FHE, and they were a hit! I also plan on making the lime bars soon. Thanks!
I found you through Becky also.
When I first saw the picture of the Magic Smore Bars, I nearly drooled. I immediately decided that I had to make them! Right after work I ran to the grocery store to stock up on the ingredients.
It was quick and easy to make. I think I let the marshmallows get too brown though. Nevertheless, my husband thought they were absolutely delicious! It got me to use some bakeware I hadn’t used since I got them as wedding gifts almost 2 years ago! Thanks for the recipes and inspriation!
I found you from Becky site too. I made the S’more bars for my Girl Scout troop today. They LOVED THEM!!!! All of them kept aksing if I could make them for the next meeting.
Thanks for the great recipes!!!!
Also, found you through Becky’s blog. And am LOVING your blog! Just the inspiration I needed! We tried your M&Ms cookies, with some fun Halloween M&Ms I just had to buy. Very yummy! I baked them for a little less time, just because we like our cookies soft. Yum! Look forward to more recipes and book reviews!
i had never thought to substitute marshmallows for coconut…but yum! thanks for sharing your magic smores bar recipe! it’s going to be a new favorite in our home…we LOVE making smores in our fireplace in the winter, so this will be perfect during those hot months with no fires
and i love your site! i plan on trying many more of your recipes…
I absolutely love your blog. My boys and I tried the Turtles and Peannt Butter Squares. They are really good and so easy to make. Thanks a lot for posting such delicious looking things!
We made the banana bread. It was so moist and delicious. Everyone is asking for more.
Love your website and all your recipes!
Mmmm…everything looks so good, but alas, I just joined Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago, and I am determined not to fail. I’ve been wanting to try some sort of bran muffin so I’m thinking I will try the muffins right away.
Well all of your recipes look amazing but I thought I would try the Magic smores because they looked great and the recipe was a quick one. They turned out great thanks for the cooking inspiration. Keep the recipes coming!
I found your web site on Becky Higgins blog on Sunday. Yesterday I made the Magic S’mores – super easy and wonderful. I took them to a church meeting last night – and they got rave reviews.:) Thank you so much for sharing with us.
I can’t wait to try so many of your recipes. But here in Maryland, the tomatoes are flowing, so we tried the Panini alla Margherita. YUM! This will be going into the July-August-September rotation. I am enjoying your blog and become a regular reader!
hi jamie, what a great blog. with give aways? i did make your lime bars, but with lemon since limes are hard to come by in germany where i’m still visiting my family. i was glad to use your tried and true recipe since i have none of my own with me on this trip…. they turned out great.
I made the vanilla cupcakes with strawberries and cream frosting for my book club last night. They were a big hit. We all thought they were really good! Thanks for the recipe.
I made the Smore’s Bars for youth group this weeks. Two batches actually. They turned out great and I know the boys will scarf them down in no time! Thanks for sharing.
New to your blog. Have to say you are breath of fresh air! Love reading it!
So I tried you M&M cookies. They taste just like the ones you find at a bakery.
I watch a 5 yr.old and I have a 3yr.old. Let me just tell you they loved being able to put those M&M’s on the dough. now some of the cookies have more than 5-8 but they were happy in turn I am happy.
So thank you.
one question in the recipe it says you would use organic sugar because it is kind of like light brown sugar, could i use regulay light brown sugar?
lime bars are on the list next, my hubby loves Key lime pie so i thought these might be up his alley.
thanks for the blog.. love it so glad i found you.
[...] you to everyone who has already entered the contest! (But don’t worry, if you haven’t entered yet, you still have time!) I scouted [...]
Hi there ! Like many of these posters, I too found your blog through Becky H. I have a daily blog myself (although I keep access private for my family and friends), and this summer I started including food photos and recipes – I called it “Summer Food” – and last week I started adding “Autumn Food”. So I am delighted to find a similar feature on your blog ! Love your lime bars; they are very similar to lemon bars that I make. Thanks for the contest and I will definitely be adding your blog to my growing list of must-reads ! Best wishes to you from Vancouver Canada.
Well, this week I made a crawfish pie — which was a hit with my husband and 4-year-old. The odd part was the availability of crawfish. You see, we currently live in Italy and well, those little mudbugs are generally unavailable outisde of South Louisiana. Imagine my delight and surprise to learn that my neighbor catches and cooks crawfish. She recently shared a bowl with me. I shared some pie with her. Life is good.
It finally cooled down enought to bake! Yeah!! I made your beautiful M&M cookies and used fall colored candies. Mine weren’t quite as pretty as yours…but they’re tasty! My son will be thrilled when he gets home from school. They are just happy looking cookies!
Wow you have gotten a lot of traffic from Becky’s blog (that’s where I found you too). I neglected my grad school studies and made peach raspberry almond crumble. It was delicious! My sister thought it wasn’t sweet enough, but I thought it was perfect. I used canned peaches instead of fresh and I added a little of the juice which was a mistake because it ended up a little soupy. Still tasted great though.
Thanks for the recipes!!!
I tried your quiche recipe not fully anticipating that my family would like it as much as they did! I’ll have to admit that my daughter eyeballed the wheat flour sack on the counter and didn’t have to say anything…She doesn’t like wheat “stuff” at all! She ended up liking it and I did as well. The wheat wasn’t overpowering and it had a great taste. I added some leftover potatoes from Sunday to the mix along with some chipotle chilis in adobe sauce for a little kick and some “warmth”! It was a delicious!
Thanks for all the great looking recipes! I’m anxious to try some more!
I tried your vanilla cupcakes with strawberries and cream frosting last night. Not moist enough for my husband (fine for me) but LOVED the jam/cream frosting idea and plan on using it, along with my peanut butter frosting next time I make cupcakes.
Love your photos of food by the way. Very well done.
We tried your M&M cookies and everyone loved them. I want ot try your banana bread next
) I came by your blog via Becky Higgins and I am so happy I did.
We tried the eggrolls and fried rice. Both my one year old and three year old loved the rice. They were a little mistified by the eggrolls. But my husband and I loved them. Thank you for the great recipies!
I, too, came to your blog via Becky’s. Your pictures are beautiful and inspire me to make your recipes. I tried the “savory pea soup with asparagus and basil”. I only made a half batch. Well, dh and I are thinking next time I’ll make a whole batch because the taste was absolutely wonderful. I’m going to give your “new england clam chowder” a try tomorrow and can’t wait!
OMGoodness! We thought your pea soup was good, but I just finished eating 2 BIG bowls of your New England Clam Chowder. I will never be able to eat that again in a restaurant…..it was fantastic. This will be a staple in our menu every month now…….Thanks for the wonderful recipes!
I just found your blog from the buffalo chicken burger, and I’ll be back! Everything looks sooo good! I’ll be back to visit often!
Okay, does it count if you just made the lime custard from the lime bars and ate the WHOLE thing yourself and made your family eat cinnamon rolls? Seriously, I’ve just recently come across your site and it’s lovely. That and I just happened to have several limes sitting on my counter from an exchange with a Mexican dinner. Hey, I live in Texas, what can I say? Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing. Oh yes, any gluten free goodies you might have come up with that almond flour would be wonderful.
Not sure this contest is still going on, but that’s okay. I just finished making the s’mores magic bars and they’re awesome! I didn’t have graham crackers, so I used a pack of English biscuits (“digestives”)–and I like them even more than graham crackers. I also added some reese’s pieces I had hanging around in the freezer. They were a little hard difficult to cut (really gooey) but that may be because I used a can and half of condensed milk (it really didn’t look like enough to glue it all together with just one can). I’m sure my coworkers will love them!
Hi, I found this blog post while was searching for online shopping related information on blog search and found it very good article, thanks for sharing, best regards and cheers!
