I just found some new taste testers for my recipes.
A couple little girls are spending the day at our house, and I was making these wraps for myself. When it was lunchtime, I offered them English muffin pizzas or fish tacos. They both said fish tacos. (My first thought was, Oh no, they’ll eat all my tuna!), but then I marveled at the idea that perhaps, somewhere, some children in the world, are not picky!
It turns out, the tacos were a hit, and the girls’ only complaints were that the avocado slices were falling out.
ahi tuna wraps with avocado
1 large ahi tuna steak
olive oil
salt and pepper
1/4 cabbage, shredded
cilantro and sour cream dressing (recipe follows)
1 avocado, sliced
1 tomato, sliced
4 tortillas
1. Rub ahi steak with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Sear the steak in a very hot skillet on both sides until browned on the outside but pink in the middle. Remove from pan and let rest for at least ten minutes. Then slice into strips.

2. Toss shredded cabbage with the dressing. Set aside.
3. Season avocado and tomato with salt and pepper.

4. Place a few strips of tuna, a small amount of the cabbage mixture, 2 slices of tomato, and two slices of avocado on each tortilla. Wrap up like a burrito or simply fold in half like a taco.

cilantro and sour cream dressing
2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sour cream
juice of 1/2 a lime
1/2-1 teaspoon sugar
salt and pepper to taste
Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl.

If you need a taste tester, call me!!!!
This looks fantastic!!! I love ahi tuna. I developed a taste for it when I lived in Japan.
Yeah, we used to live in Hawaii. That’s where I got hooked.
Oh, Ahi. How I crave thee. How I dream of thy cool flavor slipping down my tongue, dressed in nothing but sesame and wasabi. And now, avocado.
I can’t believe you made these for lunch. I’m so jealous.
Yum! I’d gladly volunteer to be a taste tester too. Looks so good.
I need you to be my neighbor.
Can I send my kids over? Maybe they wouldn’t be so picky at your house
Looks yummy!
those look really good jaime!
Those look so pretty. I’m graving ahi tuna now. I haven’t commented yet on your site but love it. Thanks for sharing all your great recipes and insight.
I love these Jaime! Would you take another so not little anymore girl for lunch tester! I love anything that combine tuna and avocado, it’s like eating a toast of the best butter with a drizzle of the best olive oil…totally creamy and delicious!
I think if I made these I would win some sort of prestigious chef of the year award at my house. They look sophisticated, healthy, and don’t seem too difficult to make! I love recipes like this!
My children, 5 and 2, both love tuna! Each will sneak tuna sashimi off my plate when we have sushi. I must make these for my two little guys. I bet they’d love them!
Yum! This is what I”ll make for dinner tonight – thanks. I’ll find out today if my six year old daughter likes them….but since she likes ahi, and she likes tacos, what’s NOT to like?
Gorgeous colour on those! They look awesome!
Fabulous recipe! This was simple, quick, and very tasty. I made it with tuna, avocado, tomato, and mixed greens dressed with a mixture of mayo, greek yogurt, sugar, and lemon juice. Thanks for the idea!
Ahi Tuna in a *** damn TACO!? Now that’s just genius. You my friend, are awesome.
Great dish! I had some black sesame seeds I got from Juliet Mae spices, (online) and put some inside and a few on top for visual joy.

I’ve been looking for a simple ahi-tuna taco recipe since our trip to Taco Boy in Charleston. This is the perfect one! Thank you so much!
Thank you! I went to epicurious and they suggested dicing and sauteing with “taco seasoning.” This looks great.
Thanx. Very good recipe, I’ve already prepared it and tasted very delicious!
